My name is Ricky Brooks (aka Candy Man), my wife Kay and I founded Hands-On Sewing Schools over a decade ago and we have always said the schools are the most fun we have ever experienced in the Home Sewing Industry.

Our goal is for every attendee to complete this beautiful Home Dec Project. This beautiful Reading Pillow can be shared with all your family members. Although they will probably all want their own! You will love all the different techniques, tips and tricks you will learn in the process of creating it, and your family will love the fact that is was made entirely by your hands. We will make sure no one leaves with an unfinished project. Everyone will also take home a wealth of knowledge that will enhance their enjoyment with their hobby, due to classes like the extensive detailed stabilizing solution class. They will also enjoy an amazing and entertaining presentation by Hope Yoder that will broaden everyone's perspective for embroidery and embellishing. Finally, they will be enrolled in a software education class based on the Sewing/Embroidery Software they are currently using. These classes will be taught by Industry Educators with years of experience in that particular brand of software training.

There will be several Hands-On Stitching Classes that every attendee will be registered for at this event:

Reading Pillow Class 1
This Reading Pillow is created with embroidery "in the hoop" . Wait till you try pin tucks and twin needle work created with the embroidery machine

Reading Pillow Class 2
Combining designs, work with existing designs, applique techniques and more will be used to finish the embroidery for your Reading Pillow.

Reading Pillow Class 3
Using the correct quilting tools, machine accessories, will have you finishing the Reading Pillow in no time.

Kay Brooks (MA & NH)
Learn the basics of stabilizers – which stabilizer to use for which kinds of materials or the stitch count of the design!   From cutaways to battings, you’ll know the right stabilizer tool for the job!

Hope Yoder (MA & NH)
Get clever & crafty with Hope Yoder as she runs you through fun projects with Craft-N-Cut Software and digital cutters.

Trevor Conquergood (appearing only at NH)
Embroidery Software Guru Trevor Conquergood teaches just what makes a good embroidery design, an understanding that helps to resolve common problems that might be recurring in your embroidery!

Debra Bohn (MA & NH)
Debra Bohn is an expert on Viking & Pfaff embroidery software, sharing her years of expertise to help you get the most of that software!

Debra also teaches a class highlighting all the different tools you can use to enhance your craft, from Crystal Embellishers to Applique Scissors!  And she teaches a class on how to handle situations when things go wrong in your embroidery (and how to avoid them altogether!)

Shinae Farrar (appearing only at MA)
Learning the in’s and out’s of Floriani Total Control U, from the magic of its Save2Sew feature to the regularly added updates (for FREE!)

Martie Sandall  (MA & NH)
Martie teaches an overview of the Janome Digitizer v5 Software, as well as the tips and tricks she learned from her years of using it!
