Kay Brooks

Rebecca Kemp Brent, PhD, is a freelance designer, editor, writer, and educator specializing in creative ways to use computerized sewing, embroidery, and quilting machines and software. Her career as a sewing educator began in the 1970s, and has encompassed work in theatrical costuming, apparel manufacturing, and hand needlework as well.

Her work has appeared in Creative Machine Embroidery, Sew News, Stitch, The Cross Stitcher, and other magazines and newsletters. She appears in several television series, including It's Sew Easy and Fresh Quilting,on PBS and the Internet. She is the author of four books, including Redwork from The WORKBASKET.

Rebecca works with a number of international companies, producing projects for publication and samples for runway shows and displays. In addition, she provides editorial services for independent designers and major publishers of books and magazines. She was a featured artist on season five of The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims, and is an inaugural member of the Schmetz Designer Portfolio.

Rebecca earned her BS from The University of Alabama with studies in Clothing and Textile Design, and her PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with joint studies in Textiles and Clothing and Educational Curriculum and Instruction.
