DJ Anderson, author, teacher, master digitizer, and embroidery professional. At the age of 32 DJ had already held many titles, achieved many goals, and made quite a reputation for himself in the embroidery industry. DJ says “I always wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to help people reach their potential in life, but I didn’t know I would someday teach an art form as old as embellishment or embroidery”. DJ graduated college with a degree in Business Education and began teaching Digital Graphics and Animation in the public school system.
In 2003 he was introduced to the Commercial Embroidery Industry and he knew immediately he had found his calling in life. DJ was hired to design and set up artwork for embroidery, direct garment printing, screen printing, vinyl, and tackle twill. During the following 4 years, he would become coowner and president of the company. During his tenure as president of a large commercial embroidery house, DJ mastered several software programs (Embroidery Office, DraWings XP Pro, Wilcom, Deco Studio, Wilcom ES65 & Melco Design Shop Pro +) and during this same time he worked with Industry Design & Cutting Software’s Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Smart Vector Pro and Smart Cut Pro. One might say, if it was software used in the embroidery or garment embellishment industry, DJ mastered it.
In October of 2007 DJ met Walter Floriani Jr. at a huge Quilt Show in Houston, TX and was introduced to Floriani Embroidery Software by Walter personally. DJ was immediately awestruck, he had never met anyone with so much knowledge about the Art of Embroidery. After working with the Floriani program for several months and numerous one on one sessions with Walt, his dream came true. Walter invited DJ to become a member of his personal education staff . Since that time, he has taught alongside Walter at numerous events and has written an extensive step by step illustrated workbook for the Floriani Embroidery Software.
Now at the young age of just 45, DJ has acquired the “Master Embroiderer Teacher and Consultant” status once held by Walter himself. DJ is constantly receiving emails, and texts from consumers and commercial embroiderers who are trying to perfect the art of embroidery and after only a few suggestions from DJ they are almost immediately signing up for his “FTC-U Masterclass”. DJ is not likely to mention it but he also serves as an Embroidery Master Consultant for huge commercial embroidery companies.
